IP67 FANS
IP67 Fan for Harsh Environments
Ingress Protection or simply IP protection is becoming more common in the market place as fans are being designed into more applications that are exposed to elements that can be very punishing.
Many customers need extra protection from the elements in their applications. The most common kind of protection are the IP ratings set for enclosures. YS TECH currently offers IP43, IP44, IP55 and now IP67. You are probably wondering which one is the right one for our customers.
Here is a break down of the level of protection for each:
- 1 IP43: varnish coating, moisture proof
- 2. IP44: conformal coating, splash proof
- 3. IP55: Paralyene coating, submergible
- 4. IP67: Encapsulated motor with complete protection.
The encapsulated motor makes this model ideal for very harsh environments in all applications. The motor is completely potted, including the lead wires. This helps with the wicking that occurs on the lead wires making them a very weak link in highly corrosive environments. This process can be applied to all fans with a thickness greater than 20mm. Further development is underway for thinner models, we will keep you posted on the progress.

* IP Code (or International Protection Rating sometimes interpreted as Ingress Protection Rating) consists of the letters IP followed by two digits. The International Electro technical Commission (IEC) classifies the amount of stress or threat from intrusion of external elements a component can withstand without failure. Elements such as dust, accidental contact and amount of moisture in application are considered. The goal of these standards is to provide more tangible understanding of vague terms such as “waterproof”.
First Digit of IP Code
The first digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against access to hazardous parts (e.g., electrical conductors, moving parts) and the ingress of solid foreign objects.
Level

---|---|---|
0
|
— |
No protection against contact and ingress of objects

1
|
>50 mm |
Any large surface of the body, such as the back of a hand, but no protection against deliberate contact with a body part

5
|
dust protected |
Ingress of dust is not entirely prevented, but it must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the satisfactory operation of the equipment; complete protection against contact
|
6
|
dust tight |
No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact
|
Second Digit of IP Code
Protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against harmful ingress of water.
